Prada and Prejudice

To impress the popular girls on a high school trip to London, klutzy Callie buys real Prada heels. But trying them on, she trips…conks her head…and wakes up in the year 1815!
There Callie meets Emily, who takes her in, mistaking her for a long-lost friend. As she spends time with Emily’s family, Callie warms to them—particularly to Emily’s cousin Alex, a hottie and a duke, if a tad arrogant.
But can Callie save Emily from a dire engagement, and win Alex's heart, before her time in the past is up?

I'd heard some good reviews about this book so I thought it might be worth checking out, and I was right! I believe Mandy Hubbard is a debut novelist, and I was impressed by her writing and work.

Callie, social outcast but popular want to be, thought a summer program in London with some of her classmates would be a great way to make friends. Wrong. Instead she embarrasses herself and wishes desperately to go home. Trying to redeem her faults, Callie splurges on a pair of red prada pumps, only to trip and fall in them moments after she leaves the store.

When Callie wakes up she finds herself in the middle of the Forest, stumbling through the woods lost and confused she finds a huge house and asks for help. From there the story begins, as Callie feigns being Emily's friend Rebecca, so that she can stay in a civilized home until she can get back to her own time.

Throughout the story Callie's character develops tremendously until she becomes a strong lead that she had wanted to be before her doomed fall. Filled with witty humor, a unique plot, and fun characters, Prada and Prejudice is a great new read that everyone should take a look out. And for you Pride and Prejudice fans, don't worry, there are lots of little similarities between the books that almost anyone can pick up on.
